NASA, NOAA, NPS, World Class Record holders, deep explorers and those who simply demand the best specify OMS® BC’s.       Why?

Pull down the zipper of the outer cover of the OMS® BC and you will see 1000 denier Nylon fabric backed with 5 to 6 oz. of Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) and on the Chemically Resistant BC’s 5-6 oz. TPU front and back (B116-32 utilizes 1680d Nylon with a .12 mm TPU coating). This thicker TPU coating helps prevent abrasion and increases puncture resistance. Most competitors use only 1/2 oz. or no urethane backing on their BC covers making them susceptible to punctures, abrasion and subsequent leaks.

Housed inside the outer cover we use a puncture resistant bladder constructed from 200 denier Nylon fabric backed with .12 mm of TPU. Most of our competitors use only a thin plastic film bladder that is more susceptible to damage.

There are other differences such as 100% quality assurance inspection for leaks, imperfections and defects before your OMS® BC is delivered.

Elastomeric Retraction Band BC Features :

1. DUAL BLADDER: Inflator hoses and Dump valves are interchangeable for a variety of unique hose configurations. The dual bladder model features a total of four (4) pull dump valves located:

  • Diver's Side bladder: lower left and top right
  • Tank Side bladder: lower right and top left     (see figure at right)
  • Colors: Black or Red

2. SINGLE BLADDER: The single bladder model has two (2) relief valves located: divers' right shoulder and divers' lower left.
   Inflator hoses and Dump valves are interchangeable
  Colors: Black or Red   (45 lb. & 60 lb. Black only)

3. POWER DEFLATION / ORAL INFLATION: The unique elastomeric bands (use is optional) assist in deflation, but still allow the diver to orally inflate the BC.

4. ELIMINATION OF AIR SHIFT: The OMS® elastomeric bands evenly compress the BC, eliminating the massive airshift associated with non-banded BCs that typically occurs when changing body plane.

5. LOW DRAG / LOW SNAG: The OMS® bands typically retract the BC to a width less than the diver's shoulders greatly reducing Drag and Snag potential.

6. TRIM ADJUSTABILITY: By adding or eliminating bands in different parts of the BC, the diver can adjust: a) lateral trim to compensate for stage bottles, cameras, etc. b) Horizontal trim e.g. head up, down or level.

7. Cam Band accommodation: (2) Top and (2) Bottom Slots are positioned in the non inflated area for Cam Band usage.

      OMS® FEATHERWEIGHT TRAVEL BC™        

For those that are weight conscious the OMS® Featherweight retraction band BC™, has been engineered to be one of the lightest travel BC’s in existence, yet maintain the ruggedness of a technical BC. This single cylinder travel BC achieves significant weight reduction by utilizing the strongest of FRP’s (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) to replace heavy metal.

Technical Features

Instead of Flimsy 200 Denier Nylon coated with TPU, the OMS® Featherweight ™ BC utilizes stronger 1680 denier Nylon with a double coating of TPU, yet still maintains its superior light weight characteristics. This protects your BC against abrasion and puncture.

The soft comfort back pad conforms to the shape of the diver. The Patent pending Single cylinder holder further reduces weight and drag especially versus plastic blow molded backpack/tank holders that are commonly used in other recreational BC’s. In addition the OMS® single cylinder holder offers superior cylinder holding and stability .

Both pockets are streamline reducing drag and bulk but most importantly the unique patent pending design securely stows up to 8 lbs. of weight (per pocket).

      OMS® RDS™ BC

The popular Aqualung Pro QD BC, long considered the mainstay of the industry is now getting competition from world renowned Technical Equipment Manufacturer Ocean Management SystemsTM (OMS® ),

OMS® has introduced the new RDSTM BC that includes many of the notable features of the Pro QD but has added some very unique and important features.
This new single cylinder OMS BC dubbed the OMS® RDSTM BC (Rapid Deployment SystemTM) represents state of the art design and engineering born out of the technical diving industry, and this experience coupled with the use of superior materials make this high end BC not only suitable for use in recreation diving and rental operations but also in Search and rescue.

Weight pockets (left and right) capable of carrying up to 15 lbs are placed inside the outer pocket and secured to the outer pocket by a rugged side release buckle holding mechanism. To release the inner and weight pocket the user squeezes the side release buckle to release and then pulls out the internal weight pocket.

 

The competition uses a bulky blow molded combination back plate/ tank holder which creates an increase in overall diver height profile resulting in increased drag. In contrast the OMS® RDSTM BC uses a slim line comfort back pad and a "soft" tank holder.

 

Cylinder Holding System: This patent pending tank holding system with (2) cam bands significantly lowers the divers overall height profile thereby reducing drag and swimming effort.

Utility Pockets: Two large utility pockets equipped with heavy-duty zippers are positioned directly over the weight pocket area for extra equipment stowage. They also include (2) each Stainless Steel Grommets for affixing a knife sheath, line cutter sheath etc.

Stainless Steel D Rings locations: (2) Bent chest mounted, (2) mounted on the top of the utility pocket and 2 mounted on the bottom of the Utility pocket area.

Waistband: Cummerbund secured by male/female Velcro and on top of this a secure 1.5" nylon webbing waist strap is joined utilizing a strong side release buckle.

Dump Location: Pull Dump at top of corrugated hose assembly, pull dump at diver’s right lower rear, pull dump at diver’s right top shoulder

Custom fit for comfort: (2) Adjustable pull straps allows for custom fit of the RDSTM along with a strategically place chest strap for further comfort and BC stability

Fabric and Single Bag Construction: The exterior fabric is made from rugged fade resistant 1680D Nylon and double coated with TPU (Urethane) for superior puncture and abrasion resistance.

Lift capacity in all sizes is adequate for almost any cylinder on the market at: 60 lbs. for all sizes

This BC has been produced in response to requests from the Military, Public Safety Diving Sector and Power Boat Racers for a rapid deployment BC system and bail out system. This unit is supplied with a front Horse Collar style BC coupled to a detachable back unit. The entire system can be rapidly donned and can be equipped with a front mounted cylinder. If the user chooses he can detach the back mounted unit and use the Horse Collar as a standalone unit.

The OMS® 32 lb., 45 lb., 60 lb. lift non-retraction BC's are made from the same superior materials as the banded BC’s. (B116-32 utilizes 1680d Nylon with a .12 mm TPU coating). They incorporate a pull dump located at the diver’s side lower left and an inflator hose exiting the center or slightly off center of the BC tank side.
Slots are provided in the non inflated area for Cam Band usage.
